Steve Martin has had the kind of long, successful acting career about
which most performers dream. After establishing himself as a comedic
writer for "The Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour", he began performing
stand-up on late night talk-shows, and then multiple successful concert
tours. From there, he shifted his focus to acting, playing co-starring
and starring roles in such popular projects as, "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely
Hearts Club Band", "The Jerk", "Pennies from Heaven", "All of Me",
"Three Amigos", "Roxanne", "Planes, Trains, and Automobiles", "Dirty
Rotten Scoundrels", "Parenthood", and its sequel", "Leap of Faith",
"Bowfinger", "Bringing Down the House", and "The Pink Panther", and its
sequel. He often served as a co-writer or primary writer on these
films, as well. In addition to his success as a film actor, he has also
guest-starred on multiple television shows, including his recurring
role on "The Smothers Brothers Show", "The Tracey Ullman Show",
"Saturday Night Live", and "30 Rock". An accomplished painter,
musician, playwright, novelist, and director, as well, he has wracked up
numerous awards across all disciplines. To date, he's won one Emmy
Award for writing, four Grammy Awards – two for Best Comedy Album, and
two for Best Bluegrass Album, the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor,
and the Kennedy Center Honor. In other words, Steve Martin is a total
renaissance man… and a wealthy one at that. His success in all artistic
arenas has led to a very impressive art collection, and an equally
impressive real estate portfolio. Recently, he chose to put one of his
homes on the market.
Steve Martin's house is in Lurin, St. Barthelemy, in
the Caribbean, and is spread out across
28,191 square feet. The
sprawling mansion, called Villa Au Soleil, houses four bedrooms and four
and a half bathrooms. Steve Martin's house also comes complete with
high open-beam ceilings, floor-to-ceiling windows that showcase the
gorgeous view of the surrounding landscape from nearly every room, a
state-of-the-art kitchen, formal dining room, and a media room with a
large flat screen television. Outside of Steve Martin's house, you can
find terraces, a sun-deck, a stunning infinity pool with two levels, a
lily pond, and a gorgeous private, tropical garden. The
picture-postcard-perfect home is on the market for $11.24 million, and
it will be interesting to see if anyone as pedigreed as Mr. Martin,
chooses to plunk down some money for it.
